IT ALL STARTED WITH ONE WOMEN'S MISSION TO CREATE LIFE-CHANGING OPPORTUNITIES FOR HER PEERS

The Ladies Empowerment Arts & Development (LEAD) initiative brings together a group of talented and entrepreneurial women refugees and asylum seekers, to have fun, create beautiful arts and handicrafts, while sharing valuable entrepreneurship skills and providing them with community and social support.

 

Our activities include Cookery, Sewing, Jewellery Making, Make Up and Baking as well as Sports for therapy and wellness.   

 

More than just a Meal

Our Cookery activities have multiple advantages.  The ladies share with each other traditional dishes from their home countries.  These are cooked up in big batches, and then shared with others who pop in for a nourishing hot meal and a chat, or take these home for their families.  

 

The ladies can also enjoy handcrafting clothing, crafts, home products and jewellery.

Future Proofing

 

Ladies are encouraged and supported to continue practising their skills, even away from LEAD, which has added benefits for their health, welfare and future employment opportunities.

 

Not surprisingly, we always have a waiting list for those looking to participate in LEAD and look forward to growing LEAD in the future!
